Another Great experience, A project assigned by Foster Family called “Cloth Bank” in which we collect reusable old/used clothes, toys, and shoes (Except Money) and donate that collected stuff to Akhuwat Foundation where deserving people like the Poor, Orphans and homeless people can use it.

When I was assigned the task, I felt like I am going to do a noble deed and I thought about what resources I can use in order to get a maximum donation? so, I used social media to access maximum people in my circle and all of them were really helpful, they understood the real purpose behind the action and decided to help me out. My target was to collect 50 Sets (One person’s dressing is called one set e.g. Pant and shirt is a set similarly a shalwar, kamiz, and doupata is set) so I posted some status on Whatsapp, Facebook and also approached people in person.

She was my class fellow, I visited her home where she asked me about my Facebook status I posted last night, I explained everything to her and she decided to help me out, she immediately stood up and started exploring her wardrobe, I helped her too and we finally came up with a bag full of clothes that were in perfect shape as she never used them or just used them 1 to 2 times in the past and never touched them ever again, they were in perfect shape so she donated them. I thanked her and left her home.

My Bag:

I also looked into my wardrobe and found many pieces that I purchased a few years ago but I never used them, also few pieces that I don’t use anymore but they are still in very good shape. so I made a bag out of it and donated it to Akhuwat family, surprisingly it made a lot of space in my wardrobe for the new stuff.

He was my class fellow, I requested him to donate to Akhuwat Cloth Bank so he talked about this with his mom and she was so kind to donate a bagful of reusable clothes.

Mrs. Nasreen

She is my neighbor and as soon as she heard about my project, She tried her best to donate some money for the deserving people but I informed her that we are not allowed to take money, we can only take usable old clothes, shoes, toys, etc. She immediately went to the market and purchased a brand new 3 piece unstitched suit and donated it for the deserving fellows of our society. I loved her spirit.

Huma and Family

She is my school-fellow and she contributed by providing me 2 bags of clothes and few pairs of shoes as well, along with the clothes of the kids.

I also received some other items than clothes including Socks, Shoes, Highneck, Caps, Coats, Jackets, and Scarfs. I didn’t include them in sets and noted them down as separate pieces/Items.

Challenges I faced and How I overcame them:

  1. People thought I was not working for any company and I am making them fool so I showed them the letter provided by the Foster Family so that they can trust me
  2. People looked suspiciously at me that I might take the stuff they donated to my home so I promised them to share the slip/Receipt with them once I collect all the stuff and submit it to Akhuwat Family
  3. People tried to donate money, I forbid them to do so as it might raise more issues for me, so I told them to purchase clothes from the money they want to donate and then donate those clothes to Akhuwat Family.

ALHAMDULILLAH

I Successfully Submitted a total of 78 sets and 17 other Pieces/Items( Packed in Bags and Donated by 8 people including myself) Submitted to Akhuwat on March 5, 2021

After receiving the receipt, I shared it with the people who contributed to this noble deed so that they should know about the stuff they donated that it has safely reached its deserving spots.

Please Feel Free to provide suggestions for improvement. I love to learn from the experts :)
